Offered Services
What kinds of styles do you accept? Which will you reject?
We reserve the right to reject or deny any style for any reason. That being said, we are willing to try any style at least once.
If you have questions or concerns about whether we will accept a commission, that is something worth bringing up in the consultation phase and we will work with you to determine the best course of action. We also encourage you to take a look at our previous work on the site, Facebook, and Instagram to get a feel for our style and past projects or preferred techniques.
Even if we will not do the commission ourselves, we are happy to help you find the right artist for your idea! Feel free to send an email before scheduling a consultation to [email protected] if you are unsure that your request will be accepted.

Do you repair or restyle wigs? How much would it cost?
This is a service we can offer, but we have a strict policy to only repair or restyle wigs that are covered by the following circumstances:
We have this policy to ensure artistic integrity between artists as we do not want to infringe on another artist’s work or step on any toes. If we determine that a wig has been styled previously, we will refuse the commission.
The cost will be determined on a per case basis depending on the nature and extent of the damage. If the request is to restyle a wig, then the cost process will echo that of the standard commission process with additional expense to restore the wig or remove any previous styling. It may be more cost effective for you to start fresh with a new wig if the cost savings in materials does not outweigh the added cost of restyling.
- The wig has never been styled or altered from when it was purchased
- The wig has only been styled or altered by an artist affiliated with Star Rose Wigs

Do you make wigs for everyday wear?
At this time, Star Rose Wigs only offers highly customized wigs with synthetic hair. While synthetic hair wigs can be worn more casually, we do not offer more casual wigs at this time.
We are happy to make recommendations and provide information you might need in regards to finding the perfect wig! Shoot us an email at [email protected] or check out our site for more information regarding tutorials and information that could be helpful for all your wig-related needs!

Commissions & Consultations
How do I begin a commission order?
If commissions are open, head over the Consultation Page to schedule a consultation with one of our artists. The consultation is when you will have a chance to ask questions, confirm the order, and review policies and procedures with one of our artists. The fee you pay will act as a down payment for your order.
After the consultation, all the information discussed will be sent to you via email and you can always follow up with additional questions via email as well. Additional consultations can be scheduled at that point if necessary though they may incur additional fees.

Why do I have to schedule a consultation to order a commission?
As we ramp up our business, we found it easiest to take orders via a Zoom call. Eventually, commission orders may be moved to a form as the business begins to grow, but for now we feel that since each commission will be unique, so too should be the customer experience.
We are always striving to improve our process so if you have any questions, concerns, or even suggestions, we encourage you to send an email to [email protected]. Your input is greatly appreciated!

What if I want changes once the piece is in progress?
Our artists will be sure to stay in contact with you over the course of the project to check in and make sure the piece is what you wanted. There will be a point in every project at which additional changes will incur additional costs and/or time. This will be communicated to you so you can approve the additional cost or time requirements before the change is made. Additional costs may require additional invoices to be sent on top of the 2 minimum for any standard commission. See the Pricing & Payment section below for more information.
Can I request a repeat from one of your previous commissions?
We are happy to repeat character wigs or custom designs and the only exception is if the customer has requested exclusivity with one of our custom designs. Customers are not able to request exclusivity to a character or design from a fandom or property that is not property of Star Rose Wigs. This includes cosplay wigs.
Our custom designs pertain to requests for any heavily inspired wigs, any of our wearable art wigs, or any non-character-specific wigs. If the wig is a portrayal of a specific character with our own artistic license, this is still considered a cosplay wig and may be repeated for another customer at a later date.

Can you use a wig I already own instead of purchasing a new one?
We’d be happy to review on a case-by-case basis. During the consultation phase, please show us the wig and we will discuss what, if anything, would need to be used for the wig to complete the commission. If both parties decide that the wig is right for the commission, then you will need to send us the wig before we can start the work on it. The shipping in this case will still be your responsibility to cover as part of the cost for materials. It may be more cost effective for us to purchase the materials on your behalf, but it is possible there is a scenario where this is not the case.
How long will it take to get my commission?
Each commission will vary in time spent to finish the piece. Our artists will be in touch as progress is made on the project which will ensure that reasonable progress is made in a timely manner. Please understand that time is limited and your commission may take 1-2 months before it is completed and shipped. With shipping delays, it may be 2-3 months or longer before you have the final product.
You will be notified when your piece is ready to ship and we will notify you again once final payment has been received and the piece is shipped. You will also be notified once we see the piece has been delivered. As always, please direct any questions or concerns to Emily at [email protected]

What exactly do you need from me in terms of details of my request?
Once the consultation is scheduled, please come to the call prepared with any questions you may have about the commission process or project in general. We will have time to go over your questions and our artist will ask you for the information they need to finish the request. It is recommended to read through this FAQ as well as the Terms of Service before your consultation.
After the consultation, all the information discussed will be sent to you via email and you can always follow up with additional questions via email as well. Additional consultations can be scheduled at that point if necessary though they may incur additional fees.

How often do you take commissions?
We will open commissions once every 3 to 4 months for a new round of orders. Commissions will be closed once all available slots are filled, likewise, they will stay open as long as there are available slots to fill. The number of slots will be determined at the start of each commission window. If you’re not sure how many slots remain, take a look at the Commissions Page to see if commissions are currently open.
If I get a commission slot, can I request more than one wig?
Consultations will be limited to one wig per appointment, but if there are remaining commission slots, we will gladly take a look at your other requests in a separate consultation session. The separate consultation can be scheduled during the initial appointment to save time, but each consultation session will have a separate down payment.
Can I get my commission by a certain deadline?
At this time, we do not guarantee your commission will get to you by a specific deadline. We ask that you place your order 1-2 months in advance of your deadline, at a minimum, and we will try our best to complete the commission on time.
How long can I expect my commission to last?
Different styles will degrade over time depending on the nature of the style or the amount of wear and tear on the product. If you are concerned with the style’s ability to last, this is a perfect item to discuss during the consultation phase of the project. See Services on Offer below for more information on restyling & repair.
Do I need to credit you for the wig if I ever post it on social media/anywhere online?
Once you have paid in full and the wig is shipped to you, it is out of our hands and you are free to use it in whatever way you would like. While we do not require that you credit us directly, if you happen to post photos on social media, it is always extremely appreciated and really helps our business grow!
Pricing & Payment
How can I find out the pricing for commissions?
During the scheduled consultation, you will be provided with detailed estimates for the piece and its components as necessary. Everything will be logged and sent out via email after the call for your records. No pricing will be provided without a session.
Pricing estimates will be determined for each project based on complexity, time estimates, and materials. Time and materials used will be logged over the course of the project which will be used to finalize the price before an invoice is sent.

How do you come up with your quotes or estimates?
The estimate for cost of materials will be based on the items we know we will use over the course of the project plus a small $10 contingency fee for additional materials used that do not need to be purchased specifically for your piece.
The estimate for time will be based on how long we think the wig will take us to complete in terms of hours. We have nearly a decade of experience styling hair or making wigs, so we have set our hourly wage at an even $35 per hour. There will be an additional hour of work included for building out the project estimate and researching materials.
The estimate for shipping will be based on a UPS or USPS quote we get using their respective online calculators. Unless otherwise specified, we will default to the cheapest option based on package weight, dimensions, and estimated value of the piece being shipped.
If you have any discounts or coupons with Star Rose Wigs, these will also be reflected in the estimate.

How does payment work for commissions?
At minimum, the commission will be paid via 2 invoices sent to your email:
All estimates provided prior to the invoice are not final and subject to change. All invoices will be itemized and additional detail can be provided upon request. Any questions or concerns can be directed to [email protected].
- The first will pertain to the cost of materials (including shipping of materials) and the time to research and prepare an estimate; this is sent after the full estimate is created and sent and before the materials are ordered. You will have a chance to approve all materials before they are purchased. Materials will be discussed during consultations, but should you have questions about the necessity of materials for the project, we are happy to answer these and work out any concerns you might have. Availability of materials may fluctuate in this amount of time, however, so it’s best to try to have these discussions before it comes time to order.
- The second and final invoice will cover time, any additional expense, and final shipping. The time and materials logged over the course of the project will be listed here as well. This invoice will need to be paid before the item is shipped.
- Additional invoices may be sent in between the 2 standard invoices if there are any changes requested that require a significant amount of additional work or the purchase of new materials specifically for your piece.

What payment methods do you accept?
All invoices will be sent and processed through Square, no exceptions. Square invoices accept all major credit or debit cards. For more information, go here.
Can I get a quote or estimate without scheduling a consultation?
As of right now, a consultation is the only way to get a quote for one of our pieces and it does not require commitment to making an order. After the consultation fee is paid, it will be reimbursed at the end of a commission should you choose to proceed with us. If you choose not to proceed with us, then all you've paid is the fee for an hour of our time to freely ask questions from one of our artists.
We want to make sure we capture the details we need to complete the piece as well as come to an understanding with you around the materials to be used and the time it will take. Since each piece is unique, we felt it best to make each customer's experience unique. Think of it as an opportunity to meet our artists, get to know them and how they work, and learn what you can come to expect from working with us. We look forward to working with you!

Returns & Refunds
Can I dispute an invoice?
You can dispute an invoice by emailing us at [email protected].
We will do our best to work with you on all matters related to the invoice to make sure any due dates make sense for you and your needs ahead of time. Once the invoice has been issued, we are happy to review anything you have questions or concerns about, but note that a review does not guarantee an adjustment will be made.

Do you provide refunds?
No, as these are all custom made products, all sales are final. This includes issues with fit/size. Most wigs are one size fits most. If you have any questions regarding fit or size, that can and will be discussed during the consultation phase.
How do I file a complaint or make a suggestion?
Please send all inquiries to [email protected] and an artist will get back to you as soon as possible. We appreciate any and all feedback you’re willing to provide!
Shipping
What are your shipping policies?
All shipping within the USA starts at $15, which is added and paid along with the final cost of labor. If shipping exceeds $25, the full cost of shipping will be added to the final invoice. If you would like a wig that is too structured or too large to fit into a standard box or smaller, we will unfortunately have to decline your request unless you are able to pick it up from us in person.
For UPS standard box sizes, visit this page to get an idea of how large your order can be.
Given COVID-19, strict lockdowns, and no conventions, we unfortunately cannot offer in-person pickup at this time. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to opening up in-person pickup policies when the world reopens.
